A famous basketball player died in Lviv due to a Russian rocket

The famous Ukrainian basketball player and coach Viktor Kobzisty was killed as a result of the rocket attack on Lviv. The Lviv community expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the athlete.

Viktor Kobzisty is a Ukrainian basketball player, coach, master of sports of Ukraine of international class. Born in the city of Kremenchuk (Poltava Region). He played for the Ukrainian national team in the finals of the European Championship in 2001 and 2005. Played for Naftokhimik (Kremenchuk), CSKA-Riko Kyiv, Azovmash (Mariupol), Dnipro and Budivelnyk (Kyiv).

Ended his playing career in the summer of 2011.

In 2011-2014, he worked as an assistant to the head coach of the Kyiv “Budievelnyk”, in 2014 – as the head coach of the DniproAZOT “DniproAZOT”.

Since 2015, he has been the president of BC “Kremin”, and also worked as the director of a children’s and youth sports school in Poltava.

Since 2016, he has played for the double of BC “Kremin” club in the Higher League.

In September 2021, he moved to Lviv as a basketball official. He worked as an administrator at SBK “Lviv”.

In the fall of 2023, he was the head coach of the Dynamo Kyiv women’s basketball team.

Viktor Kobzysty’s titles: Champion of Ukraine (2011), Vice-champion of Ukraine (2010), Winner of bronze awards of the Championship of Ukraine (2001), Vice-champion of the Universiade (2005), Finalist of the Challenge Cup (2007), Winner of the UBL Cup (2009), Vice – UBL champion (2009), Participant of the Super League All-Star Game (2009), Participant of two European Championships (2001, 2005), Participant of two Universiades (2003, 2005). Titles as a coach: Champion of Ukraine (2013, 2014), Super League Cup winner (2012), Ukrainian Cup winner (2013).
