Lviv Open Lab invites you to a series of events for Independence Day

The Lviv Open Lab youth space (5 Chervonoi Kalyna Ave.) is starting a cycle of events for the Independence Day of Ukraine. The main theme of all the planned events is science and Ukraine: popularizers of science and Ukrainian scientists will tell everyone who is interested about what scientific achievements you can be proud of and what to tell foreigners you know, and not only that.

On August 15, at 5:00 p.m., a lecture will be held by Darka Ozernaya, a well-known biologist, scientific journalist, author of books on nutrition. The title of the lecture is “Five stories about science, war and life”. The speaker will tell an interesting story about the typhoid vaccine developed in Lviv, or the medical innovations of the British during the Crimean War.

On August 19 at 5:00 p.m., the event “(British) Ukrainian scientists proved” is planned – about science from the first person, that is, the scientists themselves. They will tell how and why Ukrainian science is alive and what Ukrainian scientists do. Here you can hear more about antibiotics, leeches, snakes, Antarctica, scientific collections, genomes, antidote, evolution, birds and the pandemic.

August 24 at 3:00 p.m. – an event about non-boring science “Blue-yellow chemistry” with Mykola Lekhnovsky. A series of fascinating chemical experiments will be shown at the event to prove that science in Ukraine is not only theoretical, but also practical.

Participation in all events is free. You can register for events via the link: https://forms.gle/WrkrW7m3og4vRSwYA
