Lviv received the twelfth tram from Berlin

Today, on 9 July, Lviv received the last, twelfth tram from the batch of trams donated by Berlin, KT4D. The car has passed customs clearance and is on its way to the depot in Lviv. This was reported by Lvivelectrotrans.

“The last tram from Berlin is on its way to our depot. To run in Lviv, the car, like all the previous ones, needs to be converted to the width of the city’s gauge, some parts need to be replaced and painted, if necessary. It is also necessary to install e-ticketing and automated voice announcement equipment. After that, the tram will be inspected, certified and tested (run-in),” the utility explained.

By the way, the first two Berliners from this batch are already at the certification stage. They will soon be running on city routes. It is planned that these will be routes No. 3 and No. 6. The rest of the trams will be re-equipped and put into service in stages.

As a reminder, 12 KT4D workcars and spare parts were donated to Lviv by the Berlin Transport Company. The city received the first tram from this batch at the end of May this year. It is important that these cars are energy-efficient. In particular, they consume 2-2.5 times less electricity than existing trams. This will allow Lvivelectrotrans to save significantly on electricity bills.

It is worth noting that the city has recently significantly renewed its electric transport rolling stock. In particular, in 2021-2024, Lviv purchased 10 modern low-floor Electron trams.
