The Youth Public Organization “Lyubystok” of the Yavoriv community restored the “Fields of Combat Glory of the UPA” hideout in the village of Lyubyn

Today, the head of the Yavorivska VA, Yaroslav Kominsky, together with the head of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Department of the Yavoriv City Council, Bohdan Radelitskyi, and representatives of the “Lyubystok” NGO, inspected the hideout and familiarized themselves with the exhibits. Entrance to the hideout: stairs go down, two corridors, the first long, the second to the side. One-room hideout with two-tiered bunks, a table with a bench.

This clearing occupies approximately half a hectare. Along the perimeter are information tables and patriotic blue-yellow symbols. In the center of the hiding place is a memorial cross. According to the historical facts, which were told to us by a member of the youth organization, the initiator of the creation of the hideout museum was the active public figure Dutko Yaroslav Ivanovych, a member of the UPA, who was born in the village of Buniv, and lived in the village of Volya Lyubynska. Such shelters were built throughout the territory of Ukraine by Ukrainian rebels in the 1940s. Here you could wait out the roundup, weather the bad weather, treat the wounded, store food, water, documents, and weapons.

“Such events rally and unite. After all, everyone who visits here will be able to see what the life of the rebels was like, how they lived and imagine, even for a moment, what a difficult struggle for the freedom and independence of their people. I believe that this place will become another popular tourist location in Yavoriv region.

I am pleasantly surprised by the patriotism and consciousness of these young people. Thank you for preserving history. By your example, you show how important it is to remember the past. We are proud of you and believe in a happy future for Ukraine, because with such young people we will overcome everything. Let’s win together. Glory to Ukraine!
