The gadgets were found by border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment together with customs officers at the Shehyni checkpoint.
The inspection team found 17 brand-new Apple, Google, and Samsung devices in a Mercedes car that was entering Ukraine. Apple iPhone smartphones and Google smartphones of various models, as well as an Apple iPad tablet and Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch smartwatches were in a box in the car. The driver chose the “green corridor” lane for the control, which indicated that he was not carrying any goods subject to declaration or taxation. The 28-year-old resident of Lviv region said that the found items were a parcel that he had picked up in Poland and was supposed to deliver to Ukraine for a monetary reward.
According to preliminary estimates, the value of the found items is half a million hryvnias.
Customs officers seized the undeclared goods and drew up a report on violation of customs regulations.
