To the account of PvC “Zahido” – a third of all enemy air targets shot down during the full-scale war.
Today, December 16, the Western Air Command celebrated its 19th anniversary. On this occasion, celebrations were held with the participation of the leadership of the command, officers, representatives of the regional and city authorities.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of the territory of sovereign Ukraine, military units and units of the PvK Zahid have destroyed more than 1,600 enemy air targets. This is a third of all targets shot down by the Air Force.
Important: “Hunters for Shaheds”: Lviv OVA and IT Cluster handed over five vehicles to the forces of PvC Zahid to protect the critical infrastructure of the region.
“The personnel of the command constantly proves the ability to successfully perform the most difficult tasks of air defense. Since February 24, the management personnel of PvK Zahid has been actively fighting for a safe sky, doing everything possible to protect the airspace over Ukraine. We really have something to be proud of. Effective work of mobile fire groups and flight crews saves the lives of the civilian population, comrades-in-arms, as well as state facilities and critical infrastructure facilities. And the achievements of the servicemen of units, regiments and brigades are highly appreciated by the military-political leadership of the state and the citizens of Ukraine,” said Major General Borys Genov, the Commander of the “Zakhid” PvC.
Andriy Godyk, the first deputy chief of the Lviv OVA, joined in the greetings and words of gratitude to the servicemen. On the occasion of conscientious performance of official duties, high professionalism, significant personal contribution to the defense of Ukraine, eight military personnel were honored with thanks and valuable gifts from the regional military administration.
“We often wish each other a peaceful sky and a speedy victory. But we well understand at what price our servicemen choose for us, for their country, this right – to live under a peaceful sky. Your daily work is extremely responsible. From myself personally and from the residents of Lviv Oblast, I am sincerely grateful for the titanic work you are doing to fulfill combat tasks. The number of destroyed enemy air objects that were in your area of responsibility shows your professionalism. Thank you once again for surviving houses, for saving human lives, for giving an element of peaceful life in a country at war. And to your families, we thank you for your endurance and patience. Glory to Ukraine,” said Andriy Godyk.
By the way, more than 800 servicemen of the “Zahid” PvC were awarded state awards for their courage, bravery and heroism during the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Of them, six military personnel received the high title “Hero of Ukraine”. Unfortunately, as a result of Russian aggression, there are losses among the personnel of the command.
