More than 4,000 pine and oak saplings were planted in the Lviv region

New trees were planted in the Vyazum Forestry of the Lviv Forestry branch of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” as part of the “Let’s Create Forests Together” campaign.

The planting of trees was timed to the 140th anniversary of the Department of Geography at Ivan Franko Lviv National University. Among the participants are employees of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Lviv Oblast, representatives of the rectorate of LNU named after Ivan Franko and the Faculty of Geography.

During the campaign, planting material with a closed root system was planted, the survival rate of which is almost one hundred percent. Foresters of “Lviv forestry” conducted briefings on safety techniques and the technology of planting forest crops.

In total, 4,080 trees were planted on a 1.2-hectare site in the Turinka tract of the Vyazum Forestry, 80% of which are pine saplings, 20% of which are oak with sprinklings of spruce and European larch.

By the way, a third of the employees of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources are graduates of the Faculty of Geography of Lviv University.

“We hope that the implementation of such initiatives for greening the country, the implementation of which is currently only possible thanks to our defenders, will attract the attention of every citizen and interest them in planting their tree for the benefit of the community, the country and for the benefit of the forest, thus increasing the natural wealth of the Earth, – Volodymyr Diyak, Head of the Department of Natural Resources Protection of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv OVA noted.
