The cars were provided by the US government. In total, 60 such cars were handed over to local partners throughout Ukraine.
These vehicles will help UNFPA’s mobile socio-psychological aid teams to continue supporting victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence in all regions of the country.
The other day, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) handed over 3 cars to the Lviv region, provided by the US government through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), with the support of the government of Ukraine. Currently, there are 100 mobile brigades operating throughout Ukraine, which provide free social and psychological assistance to victims of domestic violence and, if necessary, refer them to other specialized services.
Mobile brigades also support people in remote and hard-to-reach areas, near the front line in the east and south of Ukraine, and transport victims of domestic violence and domestic violence to receive assistance and services. In addition, mobile groups conduct outreach, including information on rights, available services, and confidential and victim-oriented support options.
To date, they have responded to more than 90,000 requests for assistance, including domestic violence and gender-based violence.
“For more than a year, 5 mobile teams of social and psychological assistance have been working in Lviv Oblast with the support of the UN Population Fund. Cars were handed over to three of them. The communities received the necessary tool, which will bring assistance even closer to the victims, including those parts of the region that have not yet been covered by such services. We are very grateful to our partners for the fact that people who need the necessary support and did not have the opportunity to get it on their own will now have the opportunity to receive help. And we, for our part, will continue to strengthen the development of a system of comprehensive assistance to victims of violence at the regional level,” said the Acting Director. Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Regional State Administration, Roman Andres.
Mobile teams work with the support of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, in coordination with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
The services of mobile brigades are provided thanks to the financial support of the governments of Great Britain, Canada and the United States (USAID Office of Humanitarian Assistance), the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF) and within the framework of the UN Program for Reconstruction and Peacebuilding, financed by the European Union.
