During a working trip to Lviv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi honored the memory of defenders of Ukraine who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Together with the Head of State, the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak and his deputies, the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi honored the memory of the fallen soldiers.
The President and the leadership of the Office of the Head of State laid flowers on the graves of heroes buried on the Field of Mars of the Lychakiv Cemetery. These are soldiers and sergeants who died in battles with the Russian invaders in the spring of 2022 and at the beginning of 2023.
In particular, the participants of the ceremony honored the memory of Maksym Vasylkevych, a native of Lviv, who for three years performed combat missions in the zone of anti-terrorist operation in the east of Ukraine, and after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation returned from abroad and fought with the enemy as part of the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after Corporal General Mark Bezruchka; a native of Rubizhny, Luhansk region, Oleksiy Lyon, who fought as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo; master of sports of the international class in archery, junior sergeant of the 24th OMBr Dmytro Sydoruk.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi also spoke with the mother of Lieutenant Pavel Shcherbyna, who was the commander of a separate grenade platoon, participated in the liberation of Kherson, and later fought in the Bakhmut direction. Died on December 15, 2022.
Lychakiv Military Cemetery is the territory of military burials in Lviv. Since April 2022, the dead in the Russian-Ukrainian war have been buried in its central part.
