The traffic accident occurred on August 8 at 4:40 p.m. on the highway “Kyiv-Chop” in the village of Girne, Stryi district
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the Audi cars, driven by a 34-year-old Kyiv resident, and the AZLK, driven by a 49-year-old resident of Stryi, collided. As a result of the collision, the driver of “AZLK” received bodily injuries, from which he later died in the hospital. Also, three passengers of “Audi”, all Kyivans aged 22, 54 and 58, and two passengers of “AZLK” – residents of Stryi, aged 71 and 75, were brought to the medical facility.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
