The newly restored historical gate on St. Sh. Rustaveli in Lviv was vandalized by vandals

Only at the beginning of February, the restorers completed the restoration of the metal gate in the building on Shota Rustaveli Street, 34a, near the Stryi Market. Specialists restored the historical doors for about two months. But not even a few weeks passed, when unknown persons painted the newly restored historical gate with paint.

“Recently, we presented the restored metal gate of the building at Shota Rustaveli Street, 34a, near the Stryi Market. Everyone admired the results of the hard and professional work of the restorer and the solidarity of the residents who applied for the co-financing program. And this is what she looks like today. I did not last even a month. Sadly.

Apparently, the author of this “work” also wanted to be in touch with the beautiful and leave his mark in history. But only vandalism remained.

We thank the residents for their vigilance and concern for the appearance of their homes. In the next few days, the glazing of the gate will be washed from the “bad autograph” and it will be restored to its neat appearance,” commented the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.

In addition to the complex of works on the gate, specialists installed an old Austrian mechanical key lock and made new handles that correspond to the style of the gate. All the lost decorative elements decorating the door panels were restored.

The total cost of restoration works was UAH 74,660. Of this amount, the city paid almost UAH 52,000, and the rest was paid by residents who applied for participation in the co-financing program.
