Unique Ukrainian-bred irises bloom in the Botanical Garden in Lviv

Hurry up to see the unique irises of Ukrainian selection blooming in the Botanical Garden in Lviv

The Botanical Garden of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is in the midst of the peak of iris blooming.

The institution’s collection of tall bearded irises is one of the best in Ukraine and includes about 360 varieties, of which more than a hundred are varieties of Ukrainian selection. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the Botanical Garden administration invites everyone to visit the Botanical Garden from 10:00 to 18:00 at 44 Cheremshyny Street.

We would like to remind you that the institution also has greenhouses with 1,500 taxa that are the national treasure of Ukraine, and the oldest plant in the greenhouse is the subtropical Mighty Damara, which is about 150 years old. There is also a collection of more than 600 varieties of succulents.

You can buy a ticket directly at the entrance to the Botanical Garden. Visitors are kindly requested to note that tickets are paid for through the PrivatBank terminal.

“The diversity of plants in the Botanical Garden of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is simply amazing, with more than 5000 taxa. Anyone who wants to see nature closer should visit this picturesque place, where a collection of Ukrainian-bred irises, which participated in the competition for the best iris of 2021, is now blooming,” says Oksana Viytyk, Acting Director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Lviv Regional State Administration.
