The injured man is in intensive care. The detainee, a 66-year-old local resident, faces up to eight years in prison for the crime.
As established by the employees of the Drohobytsk District Police Department, the incident took place on February 9 at around 7:00 p.m. in one of the buildings on Grunwaldska Street in the district center.
A 50-year-old local resident came home to an acquaintance, where he was drinking alcohol with the owner. Suddenly, the owner of the apartment grabbed an ax and hit the guest on the head with it, causing serious injuries. The injured man managed to call the emergency doctors, who, in turn, informed the law enforcement officers about the incident. The victim is currently in intensive care.
An investigative team, operatives of the criminal police and employees of other services of the Drohobytsky district police department worked at the scene of the crime.
The police detained the 66-year-old owner of the apartment in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
