Anyone interested will be able to be selected on a UAV simulator, receive the necessary information about serving in the crews of unmanned vehicles and be recruited for the position of UAV operator. The training will start on 16 July.

“We are conducting a thorough selection of candidates, including basic general military training and specialised professional training. All stages of joining the Land Forces are incorporated into a single project and are under full control. A person receives a specialised military accounting speciality and is guaranteed to be assigned to the chosen unit for the chosen position,” said Oleksiy Chornomaz, Head of the Unmanned Systems Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Professional training lasts from 17 to 45 days, depending on the specialisation of the UAV operator. Upon completion of the training, the serviceman is assigned to a selected unit of the Land Forces.

Halyna Piskorska, Head of the Lviv Recruitment Centre, confirms that the UAV operator position has been one of the most sought-after over the 5 months of the centre’s operation.

“Almost all military units need relevant specialists, as the war is becoming more technological and changing its nature. Of the more than 80 people we have recruited for military service, every second one is going to work in a field related to UAVs (platoon leaders, pilots, operators, technicians). The Lviv Recruitment Centre is pleased to welcome new initiatives that will help make the process of recruitment for military service more efficient. Thus, everyone will be able to assess their skills in practice and try themselves as a UAV pilot. Our recruiters, in turn, will help each candidate find a military unit where he or she can fulfil their potential,” says Halyna Piskorska.

Tetiana Muravyova, head of the recruiting group for the recruitment of unmanned systems units of the Drone Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said: “Now we can move from online recruitment to recruitment through the recruitment centres of the Ukrainian army. The main thing is that we can now test candidates on site. A person can see the unmanned systems, learn about their features, get tested on a simulator, and get help from a professional instructor.”

The joint pilot project will take place in Lviv from 16 to 19 July. UAV operator testing will be available at the Ukrainian Army Recruitment Centre at 67 Kostya Levytskoho Street, from 9:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Thursday and from 9:00 to 16:00 on Friday. In the future, the project will be available in other cities.

“If a person has received a summons to clarify their data, they can come, make up their mind, undergo testing and join the Armed Forces as a volunteer. We will accompany such a person at all stages of joining the army, including registration in the TCC and JV and during training. I invite everyone to make a conscious choice,” said Oleksii Bezhevets, the authorised representative of the Ministry of Defence on recruitment.
