Half marathon to be held in Lviv on Sunday: part of public transport will run with changes

This weekend, Lviv is hosting the second half marathon since the beginning of the great war under the slogan “Don’t Stop!”. It is dedicated to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, rescuers, medics, volunteers and everyone who brings Ukraine’s victory closer. Therefore, 100% of all entry fees will be used for the rehabilitation and adaptation of people at the NESZLAMNI centre. During the race on Sunday, 12 May, some streets will be closed to traffic, and some public transport routes will be changed.

Thus, tomorrow, 12 May, from 8:30 to 13:45, some streets will be closed for traffic during the races. In particular, the following streets will be temporarily closed: Halytska Square (intersection with Halytska Street) – T. Shevchenko Avenue – J. Dudayev Street – S. Tomashevsky Street – M. Skoryk Street – Ye. Malaniuk Square – M. Voronoi Street – A. Mickiewicz Square – Svobody Avenue – Rizni Square – V. Chornovil Avenue – V. Lypynskoho Street to B. Khmelnytsky Street;

“First of all, Svobody Avenue will be blocked in the direction of the Opera House, Chornovola Avenue to the intersection with Lypynskoho Street. At the Lypynskoho Street – Chornovola Avenue roundabout, it will be possible to turn from Chornovola Avenue towards the centre to Lypynskoho Street towards Eroshenko Street. This will be the only available manoeuvre. However, the entirety of Lypynskoho Street from Chornovola Avenue to B. Khmelnytskoho Street will be closed for the duration of the marathon. The Lypynskoho – B. Khmelnytskoho street ring will be passable in the direction of B. Khmelnytskoho street, as well as from Kukurudzianoi street.

Therefore, bus routes that run along these streets or cross them will be changed. During the race, trolleybus No. 33 and tram No. 7 will temporarily stop running. Trams #1, #2, #6, and #9 will run on changed routes,” said Orest Oleskiv, head of the Lviv City Council’s transport department.
