According to the Lviv City Council’s Department of Safety and Street Infrastructure, since the beginning of the year, parking inspectors have issued 79,017 fines for violating the rules of stopping/parking cars totalling UAH 27.82 million.
The funds raised from the payment of fines for improper parking are used, in particular, for the needs of our military.
As a reminder, the minimum fine is UAH 340. However, depending on the specifics of the offence, it may increase to UAH 680. If the offending driver pays within 10 days, the fine is halved.
In addition, 571 vehicles have been towed to the impound lot since the beginning of the year due to violations of parking rules.
In order to return the towed car, the owner must pay UAH 2,234 for the tow truck services, another UAH 144 for one day of storage on the site, and UAH 24 from the eighth day onwards.
By the way, you can check whether an evacuated car is at the impound lot on the website of the Lviv City Council’s Department of Security and Street Infrastructure. Information about the car is displayed on the website within one calendar day from the moment of evacuation.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the city treasury has received UAH 26.69 million from the payment of fines for improper parking. This includes funds from the payment of fines issued in 2023.
As a reminder, parking inspectors have been working in Lviv for six years. They monitor compliance with traffic rules in terms of stopping, parking and payment for parking services on the streets and in other public places. The inspectors’ work is primarily aimed at preventing illegal parking, improving the discipline of paying for paid parking services, and promptly detaining vehicles that create a significant obstacle for other road users.
The Lviv City Council urges drivers not to park their cars in violation of traffic rules, in particular, under the “no stopping” or “no parking” signs, or at intersections. Chaotic parking hampers traffic and, under martial law, the passage of special vehicles that support the city’s vital functions and help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
