In Drohobych, a magnolia was stolen from the lyceum yard in the middle of the night

The morning of April 10 at Lyceum No. 16 began with unpleasant, shocking news: a magnolia tree was stolen from the school’s territory. The tree grew near the main entrance to the school. An unknown person dug it up and stole it in the middle of the night.

The administration reported the vandalism on the school’s Facebook page.

The crime took place at 00.50 and was recorded by a video surveillance camera. Unfortunately, due to the dark time of the day, it was impossible to see the attacker. The school management has already reported the theft to law enforcement.

According to the lyceum director, the administration and students plant rare trees and flowers every year on their own. As a result, the school yard is decorated with cherry trees, hibiscus, flower beds with Dutch tulips, and, until now, a blooming magnolia.

The tree was planted several years ago. It took root well in the school yard and bloomed profusely.

Every year we try to plant more and more greenery in our yard. Each tree was planted by our lyceum graduates. For us, it is a memory and a history. Therefore, there are simply no adequate words to express our feelings about what we have done,” emphasized Lyceum director Natalia Tchaikovska.

The management of the lyceum asks everyone who has information about the theft to inform the lyceum administration in order to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such crimes in the future.
