A man drowned in a lake in the Chervonohrad region: we remind you of the water safety rules

The day before, on August 21, an accident happened in Veliki Mosty. A 58-year-old man drowned in a local lake. He comes from Volyn.

Law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the incident. We remind you of the basic rules for recreation near water bodies:

Never leave children unattended.

A person who is drowning is physiologically unable to scream or call for help, since the process of breathing is the main function of the respiratory system, and speech is an additional one. In order to speak, let alone shout, it is necessary to be able to breathe. The time during which the drowning person’s mouth is above the water is not enough to exhale, inhale and call for help. If a drowning person is not rescued, he can hold on for 20 to 60 seconds before going under the water.

How to provide first aid to a drowning person?

To get a person out of the water, you can use all available means, but it is important not to endanger your own life. You have to act quickly. The most common cause of death is a lack of oxygen in the body, so after a person is on land, immediately start providing first aid. Someone call 103 and call the rescuers.

If the person does not regain consciousness, place the victim on his back, tilting his chin and head back to facilitate breathing. In this position, you can try to breathe air into your lungs. If you have such a technique, perform artificial respiration.

Rescuers remind that water does not forgive mistakes. Observance of elementary rules and safety requirements will allow you to avoid accidents while relaxing near water bodies.
