Stryi: firefighters extinguished a fire in an apartment that almost killed a man
On 28 October, at 18:36, the Rescue Service “101” received a report of a fire in Stryi: an apartment on the fifth floor of a five-storey residential building was burning.
Rescuers from the 8th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Stryi were sent to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, the fire engulfed household items in one of the apartments.
Due to the heavy smoke, firefighters had to work in respiratory and eye protection devices.
At 18:58, firefighters contained the fire and extinguished it at 19:07.
A total of 8 firefighters and 2 units of special equipment were engaged in the firefighting operations.
Unfortunately, there were some casualties. It was the owner of the apartment who was rescued by his neighbours. The man was unconscious due to poisoning by combustion products. Neighbours tried to resuscitate the man. After medical examination, the victim was hospitalised in serious condition.
