In the Lviv Region, people are calling not to use artificial flowers in cemeteries

Plastic flowers are practical in decorating spaces, but their use also leads to serious negative consequences for the environment.

After being thrown away, artificial flowers remain in nature for decades or even centuries, destroying the environment and harming flora and fauna. Artificial flowers not only pollute the environment, but can also have a harmful effect on the ecosystem.

They can become a trap for various species of animals, including birds and insects, which can lead to their death or injury. In addition, plastic can destroy soil and prevent normal plant growth, affecting biodiversity in a particular region.

In order to reduce the negative impact of plastic flowers on the environment, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the OVA urges the residents of the region to pay attention to alternative decoration options, such as:

perennial plantations;
fresh flowers and flowers in pots;
bouquets of dried flowers;
wreaths of needles;
paper products

“Recently, residents of the region are starting to give up plastic, planting more fresh flowers, but there are still many people who find it difficult to give up habits that have been formed for years. It is worth understanding that in today’s world you need to be ecologically conscious, to give preference to the real thing where you can avoid the artificial,” emphasized the Acting Director. Oksana Viytyk, Director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources.
