Lviv police explosives experts destroy cluster munitions found after Russian shelling

Specialists of the Explosive Ordnance Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region are examining the sites of rocket impacts, detecting, seizing and disposing of unexploded ordnance.

For example, in Stryi district, police found more than a dozen cluster munitions that did not detonate during the shelling on 26 August. Explosive ordnance disposal experts defused the explosives in a specially designated area and destroyed the fragments of the missiles themselves.

Law enforcers remind: if you find parts of a rocket or “shahed”, a cluster munition or any other suspicious object, do not approach it, do not try to move or disassemble it yourself. Immediately call the operational line “102” or “101”.

“A cluster munition is a large metal ball. Often, they may not detonate, but they continue to pose an extreme threat. These “balls” can explode at the slightest touch, let alone impact or movement, and the consequences of such an explosion can be irreparable. Tell your children and friends about this, warn them about the threat, and remind them of the rules of mine safety,” said Andrii Shtangret, acting head of the Lviv Police Explosive Service Department, police colonel.
