The Minister of Education set Lviv as an example for teaching the subject “Defense of Ukraine”

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, cited Lviv as an example for other communities. It is about updating the “Defense of Ukraine” subject, for the high-quality teaching of which national-patriotic education centers are being equipped and opened in Lviv.

Oksen Lisovyi noted that the ministry is still working on the development of a suitable program for educational institutions, while in our city schoolchildren are already being taught military affairs and first aid in a new way.

“It’s very cool when managers on the ground do not wait for instructions from above, do not throw up their hands because something is missing, but take the initiative into their own hands and implement important projects. So, for example, in Lviv and Zhytomyr, they are already changing the approach to teaching “Defense of Ukraine” in schools.(…)

I am glad that there are managers who use their autonomy to the fullest extent and implement changes first. This is a great example for other communities to prioritize education and teaching children important skills in wartime. I am grateful for your work and initiative!” the minister wrote on his Facebook page.

We will remind you that 12 centers of national and patriotic education will be created on the basis of general secondary education institutions of the Lviv city territorial community. As of today, such centers are already functioning in Halytskyi and Sykhivskyi districts of Lviv. They are fully equipped with everything necessary to teach children military affairs, first aid, tactical assistance, orientation, demining. There are separate facilities for each of these classes: there is a shooting range, sample weapons, mannequins, etc., and a separate staff of qualified specialists to teach the subject.

“We are completely reformatting the work and teaching of the subject “Defence of the Fatherland” and want to bring national-patriotic education in schools to a new level. In particular, it is about creating 12 centers of national-patriotic education with separate staffs and the necessary material base to teach this subject qualitatively and effectively at key educational institutions,” said Andriy Zakaliuk, head of the Lviv Education Department.
