The food block of the lyceum has become a support kitchen that will provide food to other institutions and institutions of the community.
On May 25, a kitchen-laboratory was opened on the basis of the Medenytsky Vocational Lyceum. This is an after-school educational institution, and its food block has become a support kitchen that will provide food to other institutions and institutions of the community.
From the regional budget, 1.5 million hryvnias were allocated for the capital repair of the dining hall. Another 650,000 was co-financed by the Medenytskyi Town Council, 315,000 – funds from the Medenytskyi Vocational Lyceum. The total cost of the project is almost 2.5 million hryvnias.
“I would like the children studying here to get a great education. This is the key task that we set before ourselves. This is also an example of how the community can provide children with proper, healthy food. We offer the community teachers and school directors the following cooperation: on the basis of the Medenytskyi Lyceum, having such a good food block and students who study here, cook for the students of the community schools, of which there are 1,800. We would provide transport and delivery from our side. If the heads of the schools respond to this request, it will be a comprehensive project – not only a food block and an educational and practical center, but also healthy food for the children of the community,” said the head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi.
Kitchen equipment for setting up the food block was provided by international organizations as part of the aid to Ukraine due to Russia’s military aggression. The kitchen is equipped with new dishwashers, refrigerators, Marmite kettles.
The school’s menu was prepared according to the recipe of chef Yevhen Klopotenko. The list includes both traditional Ukrainian dishes, for example, baked potatoes and vegetable salads, as well as completely new ones – carrot cream soup, chahokhbili with chicken, falafel, beet pancakes and many others. The main thing is to reduce the amount of sugar and salt in dishes, the excess of which has a negative effect on health, instead, increase the amount of vegetables, meat and fish.
“All the equipment in the renovated premises was provided by German benefactors. As of now, almost 400 children are studying with us. They will be able not only to taste new dishes, but to learn how to cook them. In this way, we give children a profession. Children can choose the dishes they want, and parents can make changes to the menu. In the future, we will serve other educational institutions of the community, and there are 15 of them. We will deliver ready-made meals to these institutions, where they will only be heated and treated by the children,” said Vasyl Luzhetsky, director of the Medenytskyi Vocational Lyceum.
By the way, the National Association of Public Catering provides support for the project to improve public catering at the level of the Medenytsia community.
During the visit to Medenich, Maksym Kozytskyi also noted that this year they want to open more than 10 educational and practical centers in Lviv Region, special attention will be paid to the repair of dormitories at vocational technical institutes.
