Digital security intensive for schoolchildren
Cyber security is an important aspect of our lives, protecting systems, networks and devices from malicious intrusions.
That is why, during the month of digital literacy, on November 2-4, the Lviv Regional Military Administration, together with the Ivan Franko Lviv National University, is holding an exclusive online event “Digital Security Intensive for Schoolchildren.”
This is a high-quality educational platform for teenagers, where everyone will be able to familiarize themselves with, learn, consolidate knowledge, skills and abilities in the direction of digital security. During the course, participants will learn what the fields of cyber security are and will generally get acquainted with the work of penetration testing, detection, prevention and protection of the system against cyber attacks.
GlobalLogic, one of the IT leaders in development, security, blockchain, etc., became a partner of the intensive. About 700 participants – students from schools in Lviv and other regions of Ukraine – registered to participate in the project. This is a confirmation that the issue of digital literacy is especially relevant for young people today, because in a time of full-scale war, such knowledge is a necessity.
During the opening of the intensive, all those present were greeted by Oleksandr Kulepin, Deputy Chairman for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization of the Lviv Regional Military Administration:
“The month of digital literacy has started in Lviv Oblast, and already today at the University of Lviv, a digital security intensive for schoolchildren has begun to raise awareness among young people about risks and threats in the cyber sphere. Course participants will learn how to avoid or counteract them. On behalf of Lviv OVA, I would like to thank Lviv University for the initiative and leadership in the implementation of the project. I am very glad that today we can share this experience with you, and I want to note that such a cyber course was also recently completed by civil servants, so your level upon graduation will correspond to the level of digital literacy of the managers of our state,” said Oleksandr Kulepin.
Vitaliy Kuharskyi, vice-rector of Lviv University for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Informatization, also addressed the students and speakers.
“Actually, as a representative of Lviv University, an institution of higher education with a long history, I am very pleased to attend such events, because you see how young people grow intellectually and involuntarily learn something new for yourself. We often encounter examples of cybercrime in the life of the University, so it is very important to be able to act correctly in case of this or that type of threat. Together with the Lviv OVA, we set ourselves the goal of creating a high-quality educational platform for young people, where everyone can acquire knowledge to counter threats that are actually lurking everywhere,” said Vitaliy Kuharskyi.
The vice-rector reminded that one of the most popular educational programs among entrants is “Cyberbezpeka”, whose students are young people from all over Ukraine.
The first day of training was full, because all those present had the opportunity to hear about security and countering Russian aggression in cyberspace from the senior inspector of the 1st sector of the Office for Countering Cybercrimes in the Lviv Region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, police captain Valeriya Ivkova. The students were also treated to another interesting lecture about the profession of a technology risk consultant from Dmytro Lazuchenkov, head of the technology risk group of the global multidisciplinary organization EY Ukraine.
During Thursday and Friday, participants will have the opportunity to attend no less important meetings with representatives of Eleks, SoftServe, GlobalLogic, the Lviv IT cluster, and the National Coordination Center for Cyber Security. It is here that participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics of cyberattacks, cybercrime, hacking, cyberhygiene in conditions of war and the analysis of Russian cyberweapons.
Students will also attend the presentation of the educational program “Cybersecurity”, which will be presented by Petro Vengerskyi, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics.
