“Skills for a successful life”: the MES organized an educational initiative for students of grades 6-11

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Institute for Modernization of the Content of Education, the Association of Innovative and Digital Education together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and leading Ukrainian distance schools have launched a new educational initiative “Skills for a Successful Life”.

The Ministry of Education and Culture informed the Voice of Sokal Region about this.

“We are starting a systematic training for Ukrainian students in grades 6-11 of skills that are necessary for any person to become successful in the modern world. These are financial and digital literacy, emotional intelligence, effective communication, creative thinking, leadership, stress resistance, flexibility in decision-making, as well as the ability to define your dream profession and build your own trajectory of further education and career. We expect that the first stage should cover 10,000 students,” said Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet. For 8 months – until July 2023 – Ukrainian students, who are in Ukraine and in 14 countries of the world due to war, will be able to learn important life skills.

“Education takes place remotely. All lessons within the scope of this project go through the procedure of approval by relevant specialists and will receive the seal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine,” said Yevhen Bazhenkov, director of the Institute for Modernization of Education Content.

Training will be coordinated through a network of Ukrainian educational hubs.

Currently, 4 training streams of 2 months duration are being launched. Every day from Monday to Saturday, except Wednesday, 4 lessons will be held.

“We are very attentive to the formation of these lessons, which will be both useful and interesting for students. The specifics are that all lessons will take place online, and that is why we have attracted the best specialists of two leading distance schools of Ukraine — “Optima School” and “Atmospherna Shkola”, which have a successful experience of effective learning in a distance format for thousands of children,” explains executive director of the Association of Innovative and Digital Education, coordinator of the network of Ukrainian educational hubs Maria Boguslav.

The teachers of each school will teach two subjects.

“We will provide training in financial and computer literacy and will try to make these lessons as rich and practical as possible,” says the founder of “Optima School” Maria Miletska.
“Our area of responsibility is career guidance and soft skills, which have been recognized

international experts of the World Forum in Davos with the most in-demand skills of the 21st century,” said Tetyana Serebryanska, director of the Atmospheric School.
