Lviv Regional Council accepts 18 state vocational education institutions into municipal ownership
Today, on February 6, during a session meeting, deputies of the Lviv Regional Council transferred 18 vocational education and training institutions from state to municipal ownership.
In 2017, as part of the reform of the education sector, members of the regional council appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a message that they were ready to accept 47 vocational education institutions in the Lviv region, which were previously under the jurisdiction of various ministries, into regional communal ownership. The Cabinet of Ministers prepared transfer documents and issued relevant resolutions for the first 18 institutions in 2018-2021.
Prior to the regional council’s decision, the draft document “On the Transfer of Integral Property Complexes of State Vocational Education Institutions to the Joint Ownership of Territorial Communities of Lviv Oblast” was reviewed by the Commission on Communal Property and the Commission on Education, Science, and Innovation.
“The decision made today will contribute to the comprehensive development of vocational education in the region. It is the regional level that should ensure the development of this industry.
Unfortunately, the war continues. Therefore, we have to educate personnel in line with the requirements of the times and train new modern specialists in demand in the labor market. It is important that vocational education and business cooperate at the stage of personnel generation.
Nowadays, a large number of military personnel are returning from the war, and we need to create employment opportunities for them. It is the development of vocational education that will enable our veterans to quickly acquire a new profession if necessary and work in existing companies or start their own business.
I am convinced that to develop vocational education and meet the needs of Lviv region in professional staff, a comprehensive regional program should be launched in Lviv region,” commented Yuriy Kholod, acting head of the Lviv Regional Council.

7. Stryi Higher Vocational School of Art and Crafts;
8. Lviv Higher Vocational School of Computer Technology and Construction;
9. SEI “Lviv Professional Lyceum of Railway Transport”;
10. Chervonohrad Vocational School of Mining and Construction;
11. Rava-Russky Vocational Lyceum;
12. State Vocational Educational Institution “Sokal Vocational Lyceum”;
13. Lviv Vocational College of Hotel, Tourism and Restaurant Services;
