The final of the online Olympiad for schoolchildren was held in Lviv

Today in Lviv Tech City, the final stage and determination of the winners of the second online Olympiad for schoolchildren “Quests and Tests” (KIT) took place. Pupils of grades 4-10 competed for significant thunderous prizes, because the total prize fund of KIT is 560,000 hryvnias.

“We organize such Olympiads in order to form children’s understanding of the value of knowledge. Students should know that their knowledge is valued not only by praise or grades, but also by money. Knowledge is financial stability in use.

This year we made a start, but next school year the number of such Olympiads should increase so that students of all grades can participate. There are no analogues to such Olympics in Ukraine. Only here, a 4th grade student can earn 50 thousand hryvnias for his knowledge,” emphasizes Andriy Zakaliuk, head of the Lviv Education Department.

Schoolchildren studying in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge by passing complex multi-test tasks, which included questions from the Ukrainian and English languages, logic, mathematics, nature, art, and computer science. Students of 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades took part in online English language competitions.

The first stage of the online Olympiad “Quests and Tests” took place online on the NIT platform on May 5. And in a week, on May 13, the winners were determined at the face-to-face stage.

The best from each class received cash prizes:

1st place – UAH 50,000
2nd place – UAH 20,000
III place – UAH 10,000

It is interesting that today the winners among students of the 4th and 6th grades are two native brothers – Lev and Severyn Vinnychuky. The boys believed in themselves and their knowledge, but the victory of both was an incredible surprise for the whole family.

“Two weeks ago, my mother told us about our Olympics and offered to register. We really wanted to participate, we were preparing. The first part of the Olympiad, which took place online, was a little easier, because it had more of a mathematical part. Today’s stage was more difficult, but we managed to cope with it as well. Many tasks required attentiveness, so you had to be as focused as possible.

Personally, I did not expect to win at all and was very worried about myself and my brother (for my brother, probably even more). I am very glad that I received such a cool gift for my knowledge,” said Severyn, a sixth-grader

“I was very worried, but very happy that I won. I still don’t know where I’ll spend the money, but maybe I’ll buy myself a cool bike,” added Lev, a fourth-grade student.

The KIT Olympiad was developed by the Lionwood.software company together with the Center for Professional Development of Pedagogical Workers of Lviv, with the assistance of the Department of Education of the Lviv City Council. The first olympiads were held only in English among students of grades 7-9, and the second ones expanded to a larger audience and cover children’s knowledge of various subjects. As Yuriy Kaminovskyi, the operations director of the Lionwood.software company, says, the developers do not plan to stop there and will only expand KIT.

“We have dreamed of making such a holiday for a long time. When I was a schoolboy, I wanted to take part in such a cool Olympiad, and I am happy that now I realized my childhood dream in some way. Many thanks to all partners who helped and are helping us on this way.

Now there is a war in the country and we need to encourage children to learn more than ever. We will make such Olympiads even larger and more interesting”, Yuriy Kaminovsky emphasized.
