A center for making up for educational losses was opened in Drohobych on the basis of Lyceum No. 16

As a result of the war, educational losses reached large proportions. In order for students to gain knowledge, the Ministry of Education and Science is looking for ways to fill the gaps in their knowledge. Thus, in the educational environment, a project is being implemented – the creation of centers for making up for educational losses.

In October, a center for making up for educational losses became operational on the basis of Lyceum No. 16 named after Yuriy Drohobych. The Lyceum passed the competitive selection process and became one of 30 educational institutions in different parts of Ukraine where such a center was opened. Pupils of grades 3-10, which is about 120 children, have the opportunity to “catch up” on the Ukrainian language and mathematics.

Lyceum teachers who have completed the appropriate training course work in the center. All classes take place outside of school hours, and even during the autumn vacation. There are 8 to 16 students in each group, which allows the teacher to pay maximum attention to each student.

Classes are held absolutely free of charge and, in fact, it is a kind of “tutoring” for Lyceum children. Children attend these lessons with pleasure and have the opportunity to improve their knowledge, the teachers say.

In addition, centers for making up knowledge are being set up on the basis of schools in 14 regions of Ukraine: Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy and Chernihiv.

The creation of an online center is also planned.

The project is implemented with the support of UNICEF UKRAINE, SpivDiy charity fund, MriyDiy educational foundation and Global Partnership for Ukraine.
