The All-Ukrainian Internet Astronomy Olympiad was launched in Lviv

During two days, from February 8 to 10, participants will compete for the championship in two age groups.

The final stage of the All-Ukrainian Internet Astronomy Olympiad has officially begun on the basis of the Lviv Vocational College of Hotel, Tourism and Restaurant Service. The preliminary stages have already taken place online.

The participants were students of 9-11 grades of general education and vocational and technical educational institutions from all over Ukraine: Lviv, Ternopil, Dnipro, Kyiv and Kharkiv region.

In total, 150 students submitted applications to participate in the competition, but only 10 students made it to the finals. They scored the required number of points in the previous stages. Everyone was divided into two groups: older and younger.

“It is very nice that education has always been and remains the center of attention. We see how our defenders are mastering state-of-the-art equipment in the fight against invaders. These are intellectuals, people with a core, who understand who and what they are protecting, who understand what they are giving their lives for. The role of education here is advanced. Because the more we invest in personal development, the better the future we will build. In Lviv Oblast, we really care about education, we manage to find a balance and support educators in all their endeavors. We are very serious about the vocational school, if we talk about funds, our bar this year is 100 million exclusively from the regional budget. Children should be able to choose any profession they want, as is the case with astronomy. Looking at the sky, far into space, you feel that it is yours. People who love it, people who know more than everyone else are happy,” said Ivan Sobko, deputy head of Lviv OVA.

During the two competitive days, students will solve astronomy problems of different levels of difficulty, which are also compiled by jury members.

The members of the distinguished jury were researchers, professors of leading higher educational institutions of Ukraine, including Ivan Franko Lviv National University. The director of the Department of Education and Science of Lviv OVA Oleg Paska was part of the organizing committee.

Already on Friday, February 10, the names of the winners in each age group will be announced. They will receive valuable gifts from the Olympiad organizers and sponsors.

By the way, the organizer and coordinator of the Internet Olympics is the Institute of Innovative Technologies and Educational Content
