This year, during the Christmas holidays, the largest caroling in the history of Ukraine took place. On the initiative of military chaplain Ivan Galyo and his colleague, clergyman Roman Grom, the “Christmas birds” campaign swept across Ukraine – nativity scenes, groups and individual performers collected UAH 4.7 million for drones for the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of Galicia.
Collectives from different parts of Ukraine caroled to raise funds, and on January 13 they gathered together in the village of Mshanets to set the Ukrainian Record for the largest performance of the carol “There in Bakhmut”.
In total, 101 nurseries, 48 carols, 54 communities and collectives, 21 schools and kindergartens, and 39 private individuals who supported the action with their own contributions took part in the campaign. In total, they collected 4,738,667 UAH.
The action was held under the slogan “Let’s carol so that next Christmas all our soldiers celebrate at home!”.
