Lviv resident Oleksandra Samoilenko celebrates her 104th birthday

On March 10, long-time Lviv resident Oleksandra Samoilenko celebrated her 104th birthday. She is the oldest birthday girl of the month.

Representatives of the city’s social welfare department congratulated the long-liver and presented her with a UAH 10,000 allowance from the city community.

“Mrs. Oleksandra has two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The woman is very much loved and respected by many Lviv residents, as she has worked as a teacher in Lviv schools for more than 30 years,” the social protection department of the Lviv City Council said.

In total, six more residents of the Lviv community will celebrate their 100th birthday in March. As every year, representatives of the city authorities congratulate all the jubilees on behalf of the community. Traditionally, long-livers who celebrate their centenary receive a one-time financial assistance of UAH 10,000, a commemorative coin and a congratulatory letter from the mayor on their birthday. Those who celebrate 101 years or more receive UAH 10 thousand. The tradition of congratulating long-livers in Lviv has been going on for more than 15 years.

By the way, in total, in 2024, the budget allocated UAH 680 thousand for the payment of one-time assistance to long-lived Lviv residents.
