Drohobych continues to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: over UAH 121 thousand raised in the city during the celebration of national holidays

During the celebration of such national holidays as Flag Day, Independence Day and City Day, Drohobych set an ambitious goal to raise as much money as possible for our defenders.

As the war in Ukraine is still ongoing, no high-profile entertainment events are held, but numerous exhibitions, fairs, performances by military bands and local artists or groups are held on public holidays.

In total, they managed to raise UAH 121,880 during these days. On 23 and 24 August, a number of important events were organised in the city to raise funds for the military.

In particular, on National Flag Day, the Ivan Franko People’s House hosted a charity concert “Song Unites”, where Drohobych residents and guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the musical history of Ukraine and the world. The programme included world and Ukrainian hits of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The Song Unites concert raised UAH 50,000 for tickets, as well as additional funds raised at an auction (UAH 3,300) and through donation boxes (UAH 25,533). The total amount was UAH 78,833.

Also on this day, the exhibition “My Ukraine is Sprouting” was exhibited on Castle Hill. The Department of Culture and Tourism Development of Drohobych City Council, together with the Drohobych Kamenyar Centre for Culture and Arts and the Folk Houses and branches of the Drohobych Territorial Community, welcomed Drohobych residents and guests with an exhibition of dried flower arrangements. The event raised UAH 5,400.

On Independence Day, Drohobych also actively raised funds. The city’s Tourist Information Centre managed to raise UAH 7,000 through charity tours and a climb to the Town Hall tower. UAH 15,270 was raised during the Drohobych Market, Fair and Military Band. And thanks to the sale of accessories made of polymer clay called “Victory Birds”, which were made by the Department of Family and Youth of the City Council, as well as all interested persons, UAH 15,380 was raised.

Thus, a total of UAH 121,880 was raised in Drohobych over the two days.
