This year, the cycle of Christmas and New Year holidays will start sooner. Traditionally – from the day of St. Nicholas, but this year we will celebrate it for the first time according to the new church calendar – December 6. Therefore, preparations are already actively underway in the community – communal workers have started installing a Christmas tree near which a holiday for children will be held, pupils of art schools are making festive decorations, and schoolchildren are preparing straw “spiders” and Christmas angels.
Before Christmas, they plan to hold a Christmas and New Year exhibition and sale of straw “spiders” and Christmas angels in Drohobych. Educational institutions of the community received sets of straws for making spiders and stars and are actively working on their creation.
This work is coordinated by the Department of Family and Youth, in cooperation with the Department of Education of Drogobytsk City Council.
The exhibition-sale is planned to be opened within the walls of the Drobych Town Hall. The official portal of the Drohobytsk City Council will provide additional information about its opening. So everyone who wants to will be able to join in viewing the works and buy holiday decor for the home. The exhibition-sale will be of a charitable nature, the proceeds will be directed to the support of the Armed Forces.
A Christmas “spider” is a traditional home decoration in Ukraine for the Christmas and New Year holidays, made of straw. The “spider” consists of straws that form a rhomboid with smaller rhomboids suspended from its tops. Due to the lightness of the design, it constantly moves under the influence of air currents.
