Residence of St Nicholas opens in Lviv: how to become an assistant to the miracle worker
On 1 November, the fabulous residence of St Nicholas starts its work in Lviv for the 28th year in a row. The Maltese service has already received more than 2,000 letters, so now it’s time for everyone to turn children’s dreams into reality.
“Each letter to St Nicholas is not just a child’s dream, it is a hope for a miracle that children need so much in these difficult times. We are pleased that our residence can become a place where these wishes come true, and we invite everyone to join us to give children a real holiday together,” says Anastasia Zherebetska, coordinator of the St Nicholas for Children in Need project.
This year, the residence has already received more than two thousand letters from children from all over Ukraine who are currently living in Lviv and the region due to the war.
“Unfortunately, we cannot fulfil all children’s wishes – to give health to their loved ones or to bring peace to the country. However, we can give children moments of sincere joy and help them forget about the difficulties that forced them to grow up early. Often, it doesn’t take much – a football, a sports uniform, a new school backpack to replace a worn-out one, warm winter shoes or a toy that a child sees every day in the store on the way to kindergarten,” Anastasia adds.
How to become an assistant to St Nicholas:
- Make a child’s dream come true – write a letter to St Nicholas after 1 November at the residence or online and buy the gift you want.
- Make a charitable contribution – support the campaign financially by making a donation here so that the organisers can buy the necessary things for the children.
- Donate necessary items – bring toys, clothes, shoes or hygiene products to our office at 8 Bohomoltsia Street.
- Become a volunteer and help pack the gifts on the eve of the holiday by following the link here.
- Spread the word among your friends and acquaintances, because everyone has a chance to become an assistant to the Miracle Worker.
We invite journalists and media representatives to the official opening of St. Nicholas’ residence, which will take place on 1 November at 12:00 at 8 Bohomoltsia Street, Lviv. This is a great opportunity to see for yourself how children’s dreams come true and to tell about this warm tradition that brings joy to thousands of children. The programme includes the painting of charity gingerbread; everyone will be able to receive a letter.
