Ritual art performance “Green Holidays on Ivan Kupala” took place in Lviv

The best folk, amateur and artistic groups of the Busk territorial community performed.

The day before, on 23 June, on the day of the celebration of the Holy Trinity, an artistic ritual performance “Green Holidays” and “Ivan Kupala” took place near the monument to Taras Shevchenko;

According to Iryna Havryliuk, Director of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions at the Lviv Regional State Administration, Lviv Oblast is rich in various rituals, customs and traditions, and it is very important to remember our cultural heritage today.

“Folk art, rituals, customs and traditions are the components that shape our culture, are passed down from generation to generation and enrich our folk art. They are a unique expression of national identity, they reflect deep values and convey the unique history and identity of our land. I am grateful to the teams of the Buska TG for their creativity, incredible talent, preservation and promotion of folk art,” said Iryna Havryliuk.

The participants of the artistic event were the best folk exemplary, amateur and artistic collectives of the Buska territorial community:

  • Folk dance studio “Arnika”, headed by A. Diyak;
  • Folk theatre group “Svichado”, directed by O. Shkvir;
  • Folk vocal formation “Nadbuzhanky”, headed by I. Lavrin;
  • The exemplary dance ensemble “New Stars”, directed by M. Tsyupka;
  • Youth amateur group “VidyzhO”, headed by M. Koza.

According to the Buska TG, the dance performances by the Arnika Folk Dance Studio and the New Stars Dance Ensemble were colourful and vibrant. The Vidizho vocal group impressed with their authentic performance, and the Nadbuzhanky folk vocal group entertained the audience with modern and old Ukrainian hits. Ancient Ukrainian wedding rituals and authentic Kupala dances were presented by the members of the Svichado Folk Theatre Group. The large audience warmly welcomed each performance, and at the end of the programme, all Lviv residents and guests were treated to a Buzetsky loaf.
