Near Volsvyno in Chervonohrad region, Roma community received documents

 

Over the next two weeks, such visits will take place in 4 more territorial communities of Lviv region, where there are places of compact temporary residence of the Roma national community.

Today, on 16 July, the mobile team went to the place of compact temporary residence of the Roma national community near the village of Volsvyn in Chervonohrad ATC to provide support in the preparation of documents.

The initiative was part of the Action Plan for 2024-2025 to implement the Strategy for Promoting the Rights and Opportunities of Persons Belonging to the Roma National Minority in Ukrainian Society until 2030. It was approved by the order of the Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi dated 15 February 2024, No. 113/0/5-24ВА.

The mobile team included Vasyl Dorosh, Head of the Religions and Nationalities Division of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Sofia Perfilieva, Protection Specialist at UNHCR Lviv Field Office, Anna Shchurko, NEEKA Lviv lawyer in the project “Protection and Solutions for Stateless Persons, Stateless Persons at Risk and Persons of Undetermined Citizenship in Ukraine”, Serhiy Maryniuk, police officer of Chervonohrad TG, Nadiya Pavlyk, nurse at the Primary Health Care Centre in Chervonohrad Chervonohrad Nadiya Pavlyk, and Sofia Natyagla, chief specialist of the Department for Internally Displaced Persons, Family Policy and Victims of the Chornobyl Accident of Chervonohrad TG.

The specialists conducted a number of outreach activities, including

  • identifying and searching for undocumented persons among the Roma minority, or persons with missing or lost documents;
  • studying the obstacles faced by members of the Roma community, as well as monitoring the needs of the Roma community;
  • the importance of preschool education for the development of children and their socialisation in society;
  • healthy lifestyle, the need to undergo preventive examinations, the importance of timely and complete treatment;
  • prevention of child neglect and homelessness, prevention of involvement of children in criminal and other illegal activities, prevention of domestic violence, drug addiction, tobacco and alcohol abuse.

Over the next two weeks, the mobile groups are to visit 4 more territorial communities in Lviv Oblast, where there are places of compact temporary residence of representatives of the Roma national community.

The idea of forming mobile groups to visit all the places of compact temporary residence of the Roma national community in Lviv region was discussed and agreed upon at a meeting of the Working Group. It was established by the order of the head of the regional state administration dated 28.12.2021 No. 1331/0/5-21 to develop and implement the Action Plan.

The implementation of the project was made possible through the cooperation of the Lviv Regional State Administration with the Lviv Branch of the International Foundation for Health and Environment “Carpathian Region” (IFESCARPATH “Carpathian Region” NEEKA), which has extensive experience in documenting members of the Roma national community.
