On December 2–3, a significant conference titled “State of Local Self-Governance: Challenges and Prospects” took place in Kyiv. This event was a milestone in strengthening local governance in Ukraine, organized by the Association of Ukrainian Cities with support from the “U-LEAD with Europe” program and in partnership with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
During the conference, various communities, local government representatives, and regional branches of the Association of Ukrainian Cities were recognized. Among the honorees was the Drohobych community, reaffirming its active role in advancing local governance reforms.
Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma received an award of appreciation from Vitaliy Klitschko, Head of the Association of Ukrainian Cities and Kyiv Mayor. The award acknowledged the community’s active cooperation and implementation of the principles of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.

The Drohobych community actively participates in initiatives aimed at improving local governance. Community representatives regularly attend events and conferences organized by the Association of Ukrainian Cities. Mayor Taras Kuchma frequently acts as a speaker in panel discussions, sharing practical achievements and innovative ideas from the community.
The recognition of the Drohobych community at such a high level underscores the effectiveness of its efforts and the well-coordinated cooperation within the community and with other local governments. This marks an important step towards strengthening democratic principles and sustainable development in Ukraine.
