Today, November 6, during a visit to Seoul, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi signed a memorandum with the Korean Land and Housing Corporation. The memorandum should strengthen cooperation between the Lviv city territorial community and the Republic of Korea in the reconstruction and development of the city.
The memorandum envisages cooperation in the following areas of reconstruction and development of the Lviv urban territorial community:
– implementation of urban infrastructure reconstruction and development projects in LMTG;
– implementation of urban planning and development projects (including smart cities);
– development of urban industrial areas and construction of industrial parks;
– training and knowledge exchange programs for Lviv City Council employees;
– other areas of cooperation agreed by the parties.
From November 6 to 11, the “1st Knowledge Exchange Program on Reconstruction Cooperation” will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Ukrainian government officials and representatives of local self-government, scientific community and business were invited here. The delegates will have meetings with Korean specialists in the field of urban development and housing construction in order to develop project plans that can be implemented later.
The 1st Knowledge Exchange Program on Reconstruction Cooperation brings together lecture and discussion sessions on national land and urban development, smart city models for balanced regional development, innovative approaches and solutions for economically independent cities. A special conference on global cooperation on post-conflict and disaster reconstruction in the age of digital technologies will also be held as part of the Program.
The Korean side provides the financial and organizational component of the visit, in particular, pays for the flight and accommodation of the Ukrainian delegation.

The main powers and responsibilities of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation are: to provide housing, especially for those in need and first-time home owners; development of a smart city based on ICT (information and communication technologies) thanks to many years of experience in the development of new cities; urban regeneration to restore the functions of old cities to make them smarter and more sustainable; regional development through urban, residential and industrial infrastructure.
