In 2023, 312 monuments of the Soviet past were demolished here. Most of the monuments fell in the Lviv district – 78
Chervonohrad district is in second place with 62. Zolochiv district is in third place, with 51 monuments demolished.
The last monuments fell in the Lopatyn and Novoyarichiv communities.
In total, the region had more than 150 monuments to Soviet soldiers, 43 obelisks and steles, 40 monuments to the “grieving mother” and “motherland”, 10 collective farmers, and 5 heroes of the Soviet Union. And 59 other objects.
In the future, the working group at the Lviv Regional Military Administration together with the NGO “Decommunisation of the Lviv Region” will work on the formation of a policy of remembrance of the Second World War and Ukrainian heroes who fought for our independence during different periods of history.
