Lviv OVA starts building fortifications in Sumy region

Construction of three strips of fortifications, totaling more than 2,000 kilometers, continues along the border and defense line.

The Lviv Regional Military Administration has begun construction of fortifications in the Sumy region. The head of the region, Maksym Kozytskyi, announced this on his Facebook page.

According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of December 29, 2023, No. 1415 “Some issues of increasing the defense capability of the state for the period of martial law in Ukraine”, Lviv builders and engineers are actively constructing platoon strongholds and non-explosive barriers.

“In this way, our region supported the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the essence of which is to build three strips of fortifications along the border and defense line, with a total length of more than 2000 kilometers. Our area of responsibility is the construction of such strips within Sumy region. Almost fifty people are already working on the site. Eight units of equipment have been engaged in the construction.

In addition to the construction of the line of fortifications, special units from our region are engaged in demining the territories affected by the Russian occupation.

Today’s tragedy in Odesa is yet another reminder that the Russians are not human beings. My sincere condolences to the families of the victims. We all have to do our part to keep the walls that cannot be overcome from the terrorist country. Both physical and mental,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.

In mid-February, the Lviv Regional Military Administration delegated authority from the Sumy Regional Military Administration to assist in the construction of fortifications. Currently, there are 15 such orders. The administration selects a contractor, makes projects, and approves them at the General Staff. The funds are transferred to the accounts of the Lviv Military Administration, which then pays the contractors for the work. Maksym Kozytskyi spoke about this in an interview with LVIV.MEDIA зазначив.

According to the head of the Lviv region, in order to organize the process properly, Deputy Yuriy Buchko and Acting Head of the Capital Construction Department of the Military Administration Roman Dulia were sent to Sumy region.

“Lviv PTSA has already been actively involved in this important process. I am grateful to the engineers and all the employees who, despite the constant threat, have been diligent and diligent in fulfilling their tasks. The enemy is strong and insidious, so we can defeat it only if we all join forces,” said Yuriy Buchko, deputy head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
