The Lviv community yesterday guessed about decommunization.
Today, the 24th, there was a meeting of the working group on food decommunization at the Lviv Regional Administration. Okrema, there were a number of great monuments that exalt the occupying army and still stand in the vast expanse of Lviv. This is the so-called “Pagorb of Glory”, an object in Sitikhov and other monuments, bas-reliefs and memorial plaques in populated areas of the Lviv community.
In contrast, along with Lopatinskaya, where there are still 10 objects of monumental propaganda, the Lviv community is the least decommunized in the Lviv region.
“About 260 Radian propaganda objects were dismantled across the Lviv region as soon as possible. Less than a hundred were lost. Our work group yesterday, June 23rd, went to Pasichna Street near Lvov to take a detailed look at the objects of the memorial complex “Pagorb of Glory”. Before that, I’ll guess, we visited the village of Sitikh. Numerous residents of the community write to us about all these objects, and all of them encourage dismantling, including proper legislation. I guess that the Lviv community, perhaps, is united, because it did not give us an inventory, and, practically speaking, a decision was made to dismantle the monument to the hugeness. Therefore, we insist that the Lvov City Council take on decommunization in a comprehensive manner and complete it to the end,” said the head of the working group for decommunization, the first defender of the head of the Lviv Regional Administration, Andriy Godik.
The memorial complex “Pagorb of Glory” near Lviv built in 1994 is part of the historical and architectural reserve “Lychakivskyi Zvintar”. Here are the burial places of the Russian and Radian military forces who perished during the Second World War. The underground area of the territory is 0.76 hectares, on which three great propaganda sculptures and dozens of graves are located.
“Shchoroka on May 9th I went to the “Pagorb of Glory” with the aim of countering the provocations of pro-Russian elements. I will always be a reminder that before the erection of monuments to the Radian occupiers, I will give certificates to Inna Ivanochko and Oleksandr Kostorniy. Today, people sit in the Ukrainian court as agents of the Russian special services. There are also monuments to the Radian occupiers on the mountain of glory. I have food: why is this object as important for the Lviv Municipality as for the agents of the Russian special services?
The procedure for dismantling the complex, in accordance with the law, involves the withdrawal of permission from the Ministry of Culture to investigate and relocate the burial place.
