The mayor of Lviv called for the establishment of a joint customs office with the EU to speed up customs control

The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, discussed with Walter Goetz, head of the office of the European Commissioner for Transport in the EU, the possibility of joint Polish-Ukrainian customs control of trucks in order to speed up border crossing.

“The queue of trucks at the Ukrainian-Polish border is about 30 km long. Vervechka stretches endlessly. Drivers have every chance to welcome the New Year here. This is a situation that began after a full-scale invasion and, despite the promise, cannot be resolved.

We discussed how to get out of this situation at a meeting with Walter Goetz, the head of the office of the European Commissioner for Transport in the EU. The problem is that each truck passes through two customs: Ukrainian and Polish. But it would be more logical to arrange one, joint control.

It is important for us to ensure decent working conditions for drivers, who are market drivers and provide our countries with necessary goods that everyone needs,” said the mayor of Lviv.
