New active tourism routes to be created in Lviv region

Three new routes will appear this year. Two of them are in the Carpathian region, one is in the Zolochiv community and partially passes through the Northern Podillya National Park.

The Commission for Designating Active Tourism Routes in Lviv Region has approved new tourist routes in the region.

Three new routes will appear this year. Two of them are in the Carpathian region, one is in the Zolochiv community and partially passes through the Northern Podillya National Park.

The members of the commission agreed on the routes, topographical maps, symbols for tourist locations, and assigned numbers to the routes.

One of the routes is the hiking trail No. 15 along the Verkhovyna Watershed Ridge. The route is designed for several days, with a total length of over 40 km. The route will start from the village of Syanky and follow the Watershed Ridge to Mount Pikuy. In addition to navigation signs, there will be several other pleasant surprises for travellers along the route. The hike can be reduced to one day, as it will include a turn-off to the villages of Lybokhora and Karpatske village.

Another route is Truskavets-Oriv, which has been assigned the number 506. A wind farm will become an attraction on this route. The length of the route is about 15 km.

The third route, “Paths of Heroes”, with a length of more than 10 km, will be marked in the Zolochiv region under the number 4906. This will be a historical and patriotic tourist route that will tell the story of the insurgency. Here you will be able to explore the nature of the Podilska Upland and the lowland Voroniaky Ridge, see the discovered and restored hideouts, rebel graves and drinking water sources.

“The autumn season is favourable for hiking, as there is no heat and nature is pleasing to the eye with its colours. Active tourism in Lviv region is quite a popular form of recreation – from school groups to individual elderly tourists. However, travellers often choose well-known routes to the peaks, such as Parashka, Makivka or Lopata. Therefore, the destinations that will appear soon will not be so popular, and for some people they will be unknown, and will allow you to discover Lviv region in a new way and see it from unexpected peaks,” said Taras Lozynskyi, Head of Tourism and Resorts Department of Lviv Regional State Administration.
