About 50 metres of emergency water supply line replaced on Polubotka Street in Lviv

For 2 weeks, Lvivvodokanal repair crews have been replacing a 600 mm diameter emergency section of the main water supply pipeline at 23-29 Polubotka Street, which connects the water supply to the Sykhiv pumping station.

The complexity of the work was due to the fact that the work was carried out at depth, and the excavated soil had to be taken to another site.

“This area needed urgent repairs because this year alone, there were six accidents with water leaking onto the roadway, and another dozen accidents in 2023. The work here was not easy, as it took place at a depth of 2.8 metres. The excavated soil had to be transported to another site and other utilities had to be taken into account, along with the water supply. So, every day for 2 weeks, 6 employees and several pieces of equipment worked at the site: a crane to lift the old pipe and install the new one, excavators and trucks.

In total, our employees replaced 50 metres of emergency steel pipe with a diameter of 600 mm with a new plastic pipe (PVC). Now, thanks to the replacement, there will be no problems with water supply in winter. It is worth noting that this section of the pipe connects the main water supply to the Sykhiv pumping station, and the water supply to a large part of Lviv residents depends on its serviceability,” Lvivvodokanal said.
