Today, December 23, the executive committee of the Sheptytska City Council approved new tariffs for the municipal enterprise “Vodokanal” for centralized water supply and wastewater services, effective from January 1, 2025.
The updated tariffs are as follows:
- Centralized water supply – UAH 36.84/m³ (including VAT);
- Centralized wastewater services – UAH 27.02/m³ (including VAT).
Reasons for Tariff Adjustment
The head of Vodokanal, Volodymyr Soldat, explained that the primary reason for the increase is the rising cost of electricity. In January of this year, the price for electricity distribution increased, followed by a general price hike in July. As a result, the enterprise had to allocate over UAH 4 million additionally for electricity payments starting from July.
Energy Efficiency Measures
Despite the financial strain, the enterprise is actively implementing measures to save energy. In 2023-2024, all pumping units at water intakes were upgraded, resulting in a 12% reduction in electricity costs.
Additionally, project documentation for installing solar panels at the Pravdynsky water intake has been developed. The estimated cost of the project is UAH 5 million. According to Mayor Andriy Zalivsky, preliminary agreements with an international fund have been reached to finance the installation of solar panels at three water intakes in the community.
