Today, the executive committee of the Lviv City Council approved the next lists for the provision of UAH 50,000 in aid to children of fallen defenders of Ukraine and children of military personnel with a Group 1 disability (acquired due to the war).
The payment will be made to 53 children whose parents/guardians have applied for such assistance to the Lviv Centre for Services to Combatants. Of these, 23 children will receive UAH 50,000 each, and 30 children will also receive the payment for the previous year, as they were unable to apply last year due to the lack of the necessary documents (certifying the status of the deceased’s family): that is, they will receive UAH 100,000 – UAH 50,000 each for 2023 and 2024. The total amount of these payments will be UAH 4,150,000.
In 2023, 279 children of defenders received UAH 50,000 in aid, totalling UAH 13,950,000.
In total, as of now, UAH 18,100,000 has already been allocated from the Lviv city budget to pay this assistance.
It should be noted that this is an annual targeted one-off allowance of UAH 50,000 for each child for education and health improvement (until they reach the age of majority). To receive the assistance, one of the parents or a legal representative (guardian) submits an application to the Lviv Centre for Services to Combatants at 41 Pekarska Street. Supporting war veterans and their families is a priority in Lviv. From 2016 to 2022, children of ATO/JFO participants who were killed (missing) or died, as well as the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, received financial assistance on St Nicholas Day in the amount of UAH 10,000. During this time, 912 children (under the age of 18 or 23 if they are studying full-time at a university) received the aid.
In addition, from 2015 to 2022, children of ATO/JFO participants, injured participants of the Revolution of Dignity and Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred received one-off financial assistance for health improvement. During this time, 3178 children of defenders received such payments (under the age of 18 in the amount of UAH 3, 4, 6 and 7 thousand per child, depending on the category). Applications for these programmes were accepted by the Lviv Centre for Services to Combatants at 41 Pekarska Street.
It should be noted that before the full-scale invasion, Lviv was home to about 7,000 war veterans (ATO/JFO), and now the number of our soldiers is many times higher. Lviv City Council is doing everything it can to help them as much as possible. This includes financial support, benefits, treatment, prosthetics and rehabilitation, psychological and legal advice, adaptation to civilian life through excursions, art and other activities, support for veteran businesses and various social assistance programmes.
