In Lviv, at the intersection of Ruska and Pidvalna streets, a new traffic light mode was implemented to prioritize trams. This led to a reduction in their travel time by 10-15%. This was reported by LCP Lvivavtodor.
Latest detectors on the catenary network detect the approach of a tram and send data to the road controller. This extends the necessary transport phase of the traffic light, providing unobstructed movement of the electric transport through the intersection.
According to research conducted after the changes, on weekdays, the average tram travel time decreased: from Pl. Mytna to Ruska St. – by 10-15%, in other directions – up to 10%.
The director of LCP Lvivavtodor, Mykola Vlasiuk, emphasized the effectiveness of the innovation and its impact on improving transport in this area of the city. Previously, delineators were also installed here to avoid chaotic parking.
