The Mobile Pharmacy project in the villages of the Drohobych community: where it runs and what medicines it sells

This year, in August, the Government adopted a resolution allowing the establishment of mobile pharmacies to deliver medicines to remote villages in hromadas.

Thus, mobile pharmacies have been launched, which run in rural areas where there are no stationary pharmacies and deliver medicines to residents. Also, during the period of martial law, mobile pharmacies operate in frontline areas and in emergency zones.

In the Drohobych community, the Mobile Pharmacy project has been operating since August. According to the order of the Luhansk Oblast State Administration, 4 directions of movement in our hromada have been agreed upon:

  1. Bronytsia-Bykiv-Novoshychi-Dolishnyi Luzhok,
  2. Selets-Stupnytsia-Medvezha,
  3. Nyzhni Hai-Verkhni Hai-Nove Selo,
  4. Bolekhivtsi-Rykhtychi-Zaluzhany

As there are 32 rural settlements in the community, the mobile pharmacy route covered 13 villages, which is 40% of the total.

During the period of operation of the mobile pharmacy in the Drohobych community, more than 118 prescriptions under the “Affordable Medicines” programme were written and dispensed and 50 OTC medicines were issued. In general, in the mobile pharmacy, medicines can be purchased as in a regular pharmacy: with or without a prescription. And most importantly, there is an opportunity to take advantage of the Government’s Affordable Medicines programme, which is especially important for older people with chronic diseases.

These days, the work of the mobile pharmacy in the village of Bronytsia was inspected by Zoryana Zobolotnya, head of the Lviv Regional Council Inter-Hospital Pharmacy No. 272, Volodymyr Chuba, head of the health department of the City Council, Lesya Ostapenko, acting director of the Drohobych District Polyclinic, and Oleksandra Semkiv, village elder.

Residents of Bronitsa are satisfied with the work of the mobile pharmacy and wish that it would come to their village more often.

At present, the mobile pharmacy runs according to the approved schedule once a week in 4 directions in the Drohobych community.

To use the mobile pharmacy service, you need to

ask your family doctor or local authorities in advance about the schedule of the mobile pharmacy’s visit to your locality, and have an electronic prescription for “Available Medicines” with a confirmation code.
