Sadovy: Lviv is preparing for the worst scenario – to be without electricity for weeks

“We have to prepare for the worst scenario – the city may be without electricity for weeks”, – Andriy Sadovy in an address to Lviv residents

The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, in his address to Lviv residents, emphasized that it is necessary to be prepared for a situation when the city may be without electricity for several days or weeks. Because of this, you should also prepare for possible heat supply interruptions. The mayor also explained why not all houses remain without electricity during Ukrenergo shutdowns.

“After the latest rocket attacks, I think all Lviv residents better understand the conditions in which the residents of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and most of the cities of our country are living today. There is no lighting for weeks, and heating is very often impossible.

We are outraged by the fact that during outages, some streets and dozens of houses are without power for hours, while others have it all the time. When Lviv was being built and planned, no one predicted that we would have scheduled or unscheduled outages. If a hospital or a strategic enterprise is located on the line that powers your house, probably the energy companies will not turn off the lights. On the other hand, there will be outages. And there is no justice here, there are realities of today. We have to prepare for the worst scenario – the city may be without electricity for weeks.

Therefore, today I want to thank all the residents who have installed heating points, metal stoves, and firewood in their shelters. We are already gradually reaching a thousand such heating points in Lviv. I want to thank all Lviv residents who buy generators. We compensate 50% of the cost of generators. But I would like us to look ahead a little,” Andriy Sadovy said.

The mayor also noted that it is very important for medical facilities to have an alternative power supply, i.e. they are also equipped with generators. The city also buys solid fuel boilers for city hospitals in case of impossibility of centralized heating.

“We have a difficult time ahead of us, but I am an optimist. I am convinced that this work that we will do now with you, we will do it with quality, and let the enemy rage with anger, but we will win!” – concluded the mayor of Lviv.
