Drohobych Triples Funding for Local Social Programs Supporting War Veterans

During the ongoing full-scale war, the Drohobych community prioritizes comprehensive social support for war veterans, families of fallen heroes, and families of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. This assistance includes housing, financial aid, benefits compensation, as well as physical and psychological rehabilitation.

Implementation of Social Programs

The Department of Social Protection of Drohobych actively implements national, regional, and local programs supporting veterans and their families.

Funding from the State Budget

In 2024, UAH 18.9 million was allocated for veterans’ housing under:

This funding provided housing compensation for 9 veterans.

Funding from the Regional Budget

Under the Lviv Region’s program for 2021–2025, UAH 746.3 thousand was allocated, including:

  1. Social payments for children of fallen defenders:
    • UAH 262.8 thousand for 7 children.
  2. Rehabilitation for war-disabled individuals:
    • UAH 405 thousand for 24 individuals (payments suspended since June 2024).
  3. One-time assistance for families of fallen defenders:
    • UAH 65 thousand for 13 families for Defenders’ Day.
  4. Compensation for utility benefits:
    • UAH 13.5 thousand for 1 family of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

Funding from the Local Budget

The local budget covered:

  1. Direct financial assistance to veterans:
    • Totaling UAH 1.6 million.
  2. Sanatorium treatment:
    • UAH 145 thousand allocated.
  3. Compensation for utility expenses for families of fallen defenders:
    • UAH 780 thousand.

In 2024, the local budget allocated UAH 2.5 million for veterans and their families.

Plans for 2025

The 2025 draft budget includes over UAH 6 million for local social support programs for war veterans.
